Description of Elastin CAS 9007-58-3
Elastin is a supportive protein that maintains the elasticity of connective tissues. Synthesized by fibroblasts, elastin exists in the extracellular matrix and is the main structural protein of elastic fibers in connective tissues, being homogeneous and amorphous. The elastin molecules are widely cross-linked together by multiple polypeptide chains through covalent bonds, forming a network with the properties of random coiling and cross-linking. Therefore, it enables many tissues to restore their shapes after being stretched or contracted, such as blood vessels, lungs, elastic tendons, cartilage and skin.
Application of Elastin CAS 9007-58-3
Elastin (powder) uses pig and cattle ligaments as raw materials. Through biotechnology, the elastin essence in the ligaments is extracted to make a hydrolyzate that can be added to cosmetics and can be well absorbed by the skin.
